The Florida Department of Health is holding public workshops in March regarding:
Limiting a patient’s daily dose
3/12/18 Monday (Miami)
3/13/18 Tuesday (Orlando)
9:00 AM-12:00 PM
Physicians, caregivers, and patients should speak if they are able to.
Remember: Sign in early, speak clearly, dress professionally and tell your story in 2-3 min
Background: Senate Bill 8-A states the department shall quantify by rule a daily dose amount with equivalent dose amounts for each allowable form of marijuana dispensed by a medical marijuana treatment center.
A qualified physician may request an exception to the daily dose amount limit however this requires more paperwork and DOH approval.
We want all patients to be able to access the medicine they need and want physicians to feel they are able to give the majority of their patients the proper dose without needing a special exemption for most of them.
Tell Your Story - the products you or your patients use, how much they need and how often plus any other variations you found that worked best for treating each condition
-Dosing is very different for every patient and should be determined by the physician + patient
-Dosing may vary based on a patient’s height, weight and other personal differences
-Dosing may vary based on what strain of medicine, type of product, medical condition, & more
-Dosing may vary from when they first begin, to when they are experienced patients as well as
-Dosing may need to be an amount within a range and not a specific number
-Dosing should cover the majority of experienced users expected dosage with an exemption
-Patients may need more than a standard dose or may need to dose more frequently
-Limiting a patients dose may have unforeseen consequences, especially if some products work better then others and we have never seen an overdose DEATH from medical marijuana
