Rules to Prescribe Instead Certify Restricts Access And Limits The Number Of Physicians
- The proposed rules on certifying the use of medical marijuana are the toughest rules on physicians in all medical marijuana states. These proposed rules limit patients’ access and endangers them in the following ways:
- By requiring physicians to specify dosage and “order” marijuana instead of certify usage for patients, the DOH causes physicians to be in violation of federal law and lose their medical license.
- Because of this there are less physicians willing to certify patient use, limiting access. This also creates a smaller pool of doctors willing to risks take risks and creates an environment similar to the pill mill crisis.
